College is an important place to weed out those that have basic skills, life lessons and character traits like self-motivation, respect for superiors, taking responsibilities for actions, time management, good work ethics etc.
College is a place where you can be surrounded by people of equal and greater intelligence. I think that being around these people stimulate professional and creative development.

Hansoo Lee is co-founder and CEO of Magoosh, an online test prep company with products for the SAT, GRE, and GMAT. The rising cost of higher education has driven student debt to worrisome levels. With the advancements in digital and online education, more and more would-be college students are…
This guy is pretty awesome!

That’s so awesome that Arrested Development is getting a second chance. I’m pretty stoked that all the original cast will be back too.
I think it is even more awesome that Netflix is getting into the production business. I feel like nowadays everyone has access to the paid content shows and is consuming TV so much more. I grew up on local TV with antennae reception. Now I can’t imagine anyone living without ESPN, Sex and the City (HBO) or even Dexter (Showtime). These use to be channels for the “rich kids” only. So now that Netflix is entering the production arena I think we will be getting more and more quality shows. They were really smart in getting a cult classic as their first production run. I can imagine once Hulu Plus shows more growth they will start producing too.

Finally, some other industries are catching up. I think this company mentioned in the article, StyleSeat, is a great application of the model. I hate calling in to make an appointment at the hair salons to get my haircuts. It is something that should be easily done online or on my iphone!
There are plenty of industries that need to take this on and have online reservations. Here is a list of a couple:

Airbnb, the vacation rentals site where users can rent couches, countries and everything in between, is personalizing the rental search experience with the help of Facebook’s social graph starting Tuesday. “Social Connections completely transforms the search experience on Airbnb,” the startup …
I don’t want to be presumptious and assume that every Indian, Pakistani, Iranian or Chinese name on the Wall St. Journal’s list Top 50 VC Backed Companies is a recent immigrant, but I bet it’s a good guess that a lot of them are. I bet there are also Canadians, French, Germans, Italians and…

Are these valuations for real!? I know that Groupon is a revenue generating business and I respect that, but come on after about 2 years a $4.75 billion valuation! Is this for real or is this reminiscent of the Dot Com era of the late 90s?
